Christine Bartley, DVM

Owner, General Medicine with a Special Interest in Reproduction

Dr. Christine Bartley is originally from outside of Wichita, Kansas and attended Kansas State University for both her undergraduate studies and veterinary degree. Her love of horses began early and she has dabbled in many disciplines including saddleseat, hunter/jumper, and even AQHA halter classes! After vet school, Dr. Bartley completed a year-long internship at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, where she discovered her passion for equine reproduction. She remained at Rood & Riddle as an associate and resident veterinarian at a prestigious Thoroughbred farm in Lexington for four additional years. There, she attended more than 100 foalings each spring while also managing regular ambulatory appointments and emergency calls.

Dr. Bartley focuses on equine reproduction. She has a particular interest in helping mares with challenging reproductive histories and enjoys the unique combination of reproductive and neonatal care that comes with breeding season. With her expertise in this work, Dr. Bartley was invited to be on the faculty at her alma mater, but she wasn’t ready to leave private practice. Instead, Dr. Bartley started BEVS to provide top-notch equine-exclusive care to the tri-state area of Northern Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio.

Dr. Bartley is also passionate about advancing the veterinary profession through mentorship and continuing education. She is currently co-chair of the Kentucky Veterinarian Medicine Association’s Power of Ten program, an initiative to foster networking, provide professional development opportunities, and give new graduates access to and awareness of the resources available to support them in their first ten years out of school. As an expert with Veterinarian Coaching, she teaches equine medicine to veterinary students preparing to sit for the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE). Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Bartley is a core member of the biotech company Ultiome, where she specializes in systems biology, metabolomics, and genomics.

When she isn't working, Dr. Bartley enjoys hiking, trying new foods, walking her four dogs (plus the occasional foster!), and spending time with her wife, sporthorse and thoroughbred trainer Alice Beckman. Her first horse, a Morgan gelding named Tyler, is now in his mid-thirties (!) and enjoys unlatching stalls, unplugging radios, and teaching manners to the yearlings around the barn.
